JILL VARRIE – MARKETING AND R&D

Jill has undertaken extensive research into renewable energy technologies and the funding mechanisms underpinning this market and established relationships with a number of international. Within the developmental environment Jill has studied job creation, education and economic development. After extensive consultation she designed the development eco-system that underpins the company’s carbon-neutral energy feedstock-supply philosophy.

Her participation in the multi-stakeholder ACP Biofuels Research Programme sponsored by the European Commission and led by Professor Patricia Harvey of Greenwich University, informed the development of an industrial protocol for production of glycerol from the saline algae Dunaliella Salina. This system is expected to underpin Ravfin’s entry into the green hydrogen market in the near future.

She is currently involved in pre-feasibility exploration of upstream green syngas production from industrial scale biomass cultivation and her focus is now on embedding a full range of carbon neutral energy systems into the Africa markets

Jill has established, ran and subsequently sold a number of enterprises in various sectors. She also held management, marketing and sales positions in both large and medium-sized companies. These positions involved the conceptualizing and execution of marketing strategies, and control of the customer service platforms that ultimately became industry norms. She established a marketing services company that set up sophisticated systems to monitor and drive quality control and customer satisfaction.

Jill conceptualised a cost efficient Waste-to-Energy system that resulted in the award of a contract from a major Metro Municipality in South Africa, for her client
